Vision

We envision a future where aging out of foster care never means walking alone. A world where these resilient young people are empowered to rewrite their stories, equipped with the skills to build stable careers, and anchored by an unshakeable foundation of community, purpose, and pride.

Mission

The Fortress Foundation is dedicated to building secure futures for foster youth through comprehensive construction readiness programs, creating a self-sustaining talent pipeline that places them into high-demand construction trades and high-wage careers. We leverage our non-profit staffing model and corporate partnerships to fund these life-stabilizing initiatives.

Our Work

The Fortress Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity dedicated to securing permanent economic independence for youth aging out of foster care. Our work aims to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness by transforming vulnerable youth into a highly skilled, job-ready talent pipeline for rewarding careers in the skilled trades.

Leadership Team

We believe diverse leaders are essential—specifically, those who can collaborate with the construction industry, and those who can navigate the child welfare system.

On the industry side, we need champions who understand the workforce demands of the construction sector and can mobilize companies to see the value of this investment. These leaders bridge the gap between employers and program design, ensuring job readiness aligns perfectly with industry needs.

Aging out of care

Each year across the country, tens of thousands of foster youth age out of the system, often without family support or any form of safety net. Unlike their peers, they're expected to navigate adulthood alone—finding housing, employment, and health care without guidance.

This sudden transition is filled with challenges. Many face

homelessness, joblessness, and gaps in education. Without support, their chances of achieving long-term stability are slim. Trauma, instability, and a lack of life skills further complicate their path forward.

The Fortress Foundation exists to change that. By working with industry to guide these young adults into careers in construction—a field facing a serious labor shortage—we help them build secure, self-sufficient lives while strengthening the future of the American workforce.

  • The skilled trades face unprecedented workforce deficits. We identify high-potential youth and cultivate their raw technical aptitude. Employers don't just receive entry-level applicants; they gain access to disciplined, credentialed graduates who enter their workforce as Day 1 Direct Hires—backed by a fully funded, 6-month external coaching safety net. This eliminates recruitment lag, slashes turnover costs, and delivers measurable social impact (ESG) metrics.

  • The transition out of the foster care system is historically plagued by high rates of unemployment and housing instability. The Fortress Foundation serves as an essential, zero-cost operational extension for state agencies. By absorbing the financial, educational, and emotional heavy-lifting required to transition youth into independent adulthood, we radically reduce long-term reliance on public assistance and rewrite the statistical trajectory for vulnerable populations.

  • Without a map, the transition to adulthood is a specialized crisis. We replace uncertainty with an unshakeable career architecture. We don't offer short-term jobs; we build lifelong career equity in high-paying sectors: Aviation, Construction, Mechanical, and Electrical. By walking youth from early curiosity to full certification and permanent placement, we break the generational cycle of foster dependency for good.

A path forward between industry, state and youth

Lasting social and economic impact is born at the intersection of intentional collaboration. By building a unified ecosystem between industry leaders, state social services, and the Fortress Foundation, we turn systemic vulnerability into a competitive workforce advantage.

Our blueprint directly addresses critical infrastructure labor shortages while providing foster youth with a fully sponsored, de-risked pathway to high-demand careers in the skilled trades.
